Glimpsing the Nature of the Mind: Meditation Retreat with Venerable Amy Miller

Shanti Deva

Join us for the third annual spring retreat with Ven. Amy Miller hosted by Shantideva Meditation Center. Open to the public, this weekend is a wonderful opportunity to reinvigorate one’s spiritual practice or cultivate a new meditation experience. Deepen your ability to not only understand the nature of the mind, but use it as a tool to awakening.
This is the third edition of Shantideva Meditation Center’s spring retreat with Venerable Amy Miller, a wonderful opportunity to dedicate a full weekend to our spiritual practice.

Take a break from the daily grind, experience the happiness of a calm mind, and strengthen your spiritual practice. This immersive experience will allow you to return with newfound insights and will offer tools to develop a healthy mind on the path to enlightenment.
To develop a calm and focused mind, we will do several sessions of concentration meditation (shiné) and practice mindfulness in silence during the breaks. We will also engage in analytical meditations from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition on key topics such as impermanence, renunciation (emergence from suffering), bodhicitta (immeasurable compassion), and emptiness (seeing reality as it is).

By developing the "yogi/yogini mind" in these ways, we can learn to short circuit unhealthy patterns while enhancing our positive qualities, such as loving kindness, towards ourselves and others.

In a retreat setting, we can really shift our understanding from the brain to the heart. This weekend will be a great opportunity to make meaningful progress in our busy lives!

This retreat is open to relatively new Buddhists as well as to more experienced practitioners. One should be familiar with basic Buddhist concepts and already have some experience with meditation.
