How do we understand and practice Green Tara (the bodhisattva of compassion), from an outer, inner, and secret perspective? How do we accumulate merit and purify and transform our mind with the practice of Green Tara? This retreat will explore this topic in depth.
It is said that after noticing the suffering instilled by their fears and unfulfilled wishes, Green Tara’s ultimate prayer was to become enlightened as a Tara of liberation so that she could free all beings from this suffering. In her own life and through her infinite compassion and effort, Green Tara achieved enlightenment, creating a field of merit to benefit sentient beings so they too could receive such blessings. Just by hearing her name, remembering her through supplication, or following her example, we can be liberated from suffering. However, to receive the blessings and to fulfill our wishes, we need to accumulate positive karma and purify negative karma with understanding, practice of prayers, and spiritual activities.

We hope that with the teaching and guidance of His Eminence Gyalwa Dokhampa, our practice of Green Tara will be accomplished with greater wisdom; henceforth, our activities will work for the greater good of all.

For Green Tara practice, it is recommended that you bring the following for offerings;

  1. Flowers, representing inner & outer beauty;
  2. Fruits, representing abundance; and
  3. Milk, representing good health and strength.
Please Note: Those joining Green Tara practice should not consume alcohol, nicotine, meat, or eggs on the same day of the practice.

His Eminence Gyalwa Dokhampa Jigme Pema Nyinjadh was born into the family of His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa, spiritual head of the Drukpa Order. He was recognized by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa and His Eminence the First Kyabje Thuksey Rinpoche. He currently resides in the Kingdom of Bhutan and Nepal. He also works to make Buddhist ideals relevant to modern lifestyles and emphasizes that Buddhist principles can and should be integrated into everyday life, through service to others. As a spiritual teacher of the Drukpa Order, a care taker of the monastery, author of The Restful Mind, His Eminence travels frequently from Bhutan and Nepal to Vietnam, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Europe, Australia, and the United States. His considerable intelligence and warmth of personality has resulted in more than 40 International Drukpa Centers around the world.
